Can an ADHDer be a good therapist?

Basically what the title says. What do y’all think?

My psychiatrist has ADHD and he’s awesome!! He really understands ADHD beyond the "cliché" version (that should be a given for a therapist but I had one before telling me that if I had ADHD I would be running on roofs right now??). He decided to go unmedicated because it oddly works for him, sometimes it shows because he tends to be late and forget stuff, but he’s still such a good therapist

My therapist doesn’t have it and while she is spectacular, she just doesn’t get it sometimes it is feels hard.

My (really good) therapist acknowledged that he had it too deeper in our conversations. Typically people with ADHD have a lot of empathy and understanding.

My Councellor has told me she has ADHD and she has helped me more than any previous Councellor

Absolutely, you can relate to clients in ways neurotypical therapists can’t. Other folks with ADHD will need a therapist like you!

Very much so. People with adhd, depression, anxiety have more understanding of mental illnesses & have more empathy.
