Asking for Help?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone had some useful life lessons about how to ask someone to do more directly to help instead of just giving advice or coaching? Thinking about two recent requests for more direct help with time management (from folks who agreed and where we do have that relationship where I can ask, and I’d help them too in a flash) but ultimately neither of those people did anything, I don’t think I asked in a way that makes clear the desperation involved in asking to begin with…

I sort of have an answer. My spouse thinks he is helping me, and yes he is, but it’s not WHERE I am desperate for help. I soooo relate to your comment, ‘the desperation involved to ask for help.’ During a calm moment I will say, ‘I appreciate blah, blah blah but could we schedule a time you help me…’ I think this would work but we don’t schedule a time right then, and I forget to follow through. 😰

I've learned the only person you can rely on is yourself. I set alarms and timers to keep me on schedule and makes me responsible for completing my tasks.
