How do you explain to your parents that you're not being lazy, just have trouble getting to actually doing the task?

Have them research ADHD paralysis, and INCUP. Or do the research yourself and take it to them. Can't tell you if it will work or not, but it's worth a try. I was diagnosed with ADHD in my 30's. I was constantly told I was being lazy as a child. Knowing now that's not true is huge! I have a lot more confidence now. Hang in there! You'll get through it one way or another!
TL;DR: Wall of Awful video on HowtoADHD YT helped me tons! I'm an adult who just got diagnosed at 42, but what would have helped me would've been to educate them (or if they'd taken that responsibility themselves!). I've currently been sharing How to ADHD on YouTube with my 72 y/o father. Has been helpful bc the videos are very clear about the neuroscience and focus on how to manage, which he likes to hear. I'm also lucky we have a great relationship now, so there's that. (Plus I think he has ADHD, too!) 🍀
I have the same problem so am interested in anyone’s ideas on this also.
