ADHD Wandering

Does anyone else give themselves time to just let their ADHD free? For example, I have tasks broken down to clean my house, but occasionally I let myself wander around and just let things that need picked up or done in whatever order works. Obviously when you’re on a deadline this wouldn’t work well, but on a daily basis having that time I just give into it really helps. It helps since it’s common to blame things on your ADHD, but I do often think it’s a super power. We often only frame it as this thing we have to overcome. If nothing else, it helps me frame ADHD in a more positive light.

I try to see it as a superpower because I can see things neurotypical people can’t see or pick up on. So I tell myself that I am going to take the executive dysfunction out of the equation and enjoy my neurodivergent brain which means that any task I accomplish feels like a million bucks when completed. Our neurotypical friends never feel satisfaction the way we do. 😏

Yea, this is our definition of rest :) although it looks different than other’s. Although it may not look like sitting still - at all. We all need rest.

I do this because otherwise nothing gets done. I’ve been lean into it because I’m hoping the more mini tasks I do as a form of procrastination will eventually lead to me being less overwhelmed and able to focus on what I should be doing… the procrastination tasks seems to be never ending tho
